Tigard Knitting Guild

yarn | hand made | community | slow fashion

The purpose of the Tigard Knitting Guild is to encourage and support the ongoing development of skills and creativity in knitting by providing fellowship and educational opportunities to all members.  We invite and welcome all knitting enthusiasts regardless of skin color, nationality, religion, gender identity, age, or disability and we are united with those who are dedicated to the idea of an inclusive, diverse, and vibrant knitting community free from racism, inequality, and injustice. Our Guild is dedicated to creating a community for all knitters to learn, enjoy, and flourish and is comprised of a diverse group of age ranges, skill levels, and backgrounds.

Tigard Knitting Guild is funded through member dues and the board is made up of volunteers.

April Speaker: Zeb Walter of Disco Fibers

Disco Fibers is a yarn and fiber secondhand shop based in Portland, Oregon. The idea behind Disco Fibers is to source yarn and fibers through company’s overstocks, personal donations, estate clean ups, and store closings. We then resell these items at affordable rates to makers, creators, and artists. Think of us as a thrift store, but for fiber crafts.

There is so much artistry that goes into spinning and dyeing of fibers before it ever reaches customers, and unlike a catchall thrift store, Disco Fibers can handle of your donations with respect and care until it finds a new home.

May Speaker: Martha Sunderland of Flavour Valley Woodworking

Favour Valley Woodworking is a small shop located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon creating practical, hand made wood and antler buttons. We are inspired by traditional woodworking craft and beautiful wood available right here. Our goal is to provide beautiful accessories that complement all types of handwork while at the same time protecting our environment by using sustainable materials, finishes and technologies.
