Tigard Knitting Guild (TKG) was founded in September 1994 by Anne Peret, Norm Nelson, Rosie Barnes and MaryJo Dignam. TKG was organized after the Portland Knitting Guild disbanded and the founders wanted a guild in the area. Twenty-four charter members attended the first meeting which was held at the Tigard City Council Chambers. We had a program from a knowledgeable local knitter, a snack of bar cookies one the organizers brought, and show and tell. The focus of TKG has always been on education of members through programs and camaraderie with other members. We all learn from each other. The first year we had a weekend retreat with instructors which continued every year until the pandemic cancelled the 2020 retreat. As of 2021, three charter members are still active members in TKG.
